sweetheart, Violetta Komyshan. The loved-up

pair started dating in 2012 after meeting

at LaGuardia High School in New York.

A self-confessed romantic, there’s a reason

these two have become #couplegoals.

‘I think I am a pretty loyal guy. I am very

romantic, too. I like romanticising romance.

My mum is very romantic. As is my dad,’

he says. ‘I like to go on really nice dates. And

I like to go with a girl. Don’t make me sound

like a playboy, because I’m not. I prefer being

with a girlfriend long-term. I prefer to be with

someone I can trust.’

A true millennial, ‘brand Ansel’ is all about

living life on display. ‘I want to keep creating

and making important things, and that’s what

I want Ansel Elgort to be about,’ he explains.

And with 9.7 million Insty followers, it’s no

surprise he launched his own app – Anselfie!

‘If you’re an actor now and you want to be

given big roles in studio films, they want to

have an actor and an artist in their movie, but

they also want a brand in their movie,’ he says.

Ansel knows his fans crave that intimacy and

luckily, this young superstar is all about his

fans. ‘I really appreciate the fact that people

care and want to hear my songs and watch

my movies. I don’t take that for granted.’

Despite his success, Ansel is adamant

that fame won’t change him. ‘I think being

a movie star is more hyped-up than it really

is,’ he says. ‘If I want to go to restaurants every

night with paparazzi outside and make my life

about being famous, I could do that. But I have

more interesting things going on in my life than

being famous. At least, more interesting to me.’

With big hopes and even bigger dreams

for his career, Ansel still takes the time to

look back with an open appreciation of the

great actors that have come before him.

‘I love [Marlon] Brando, but I don’t want

tohavealifelikehis,’hesays.‘I’dliketo

have a nice, happy life. I’d like to have kids

that love me and a wife that I’m devoted

to.’ A short pause, then he decides: ‘I’d like

to be a little more like Paul Newman.’

‘She shines bright and always puts a smile on my face,’ he adds. Aww!
