beachy life. ‘We walk our

dog, we love to cook

together, we love

a good shop.’

‘We’ve had such an

amazing year with

travel and work,

I was just thinking,

way I went into 2017,

I’m so blessed,’”

says a loved-up Elle

ring and Lucie had some great ideas.

Elle:I had no idea! Joel was so calm.

Joel:That’s how it seemed to you, but all

thewhileIwasrunningaroundByron,

meetingLucieatthebeach.Secretoperations!

Elle:Ididn’tknowwheredinnerwas,butwe

headed in the direction of Wategos. And he

putonEdSheeran’ssongPerfectand I started

crying! I found this beautiful rock and I gave

ittoJoelandthenhehandsmearockwith

‘I love you’ on it and me being the emotional

CancerianthatIam,Iloseitagain!Itstill

didn’t click... Then before I knew it, he was

down on one knee!

Did you say ‘yes’ straightaway?

Elle:IthinkIblanked.Thegistofwhathe

saidwasthatwebothrealisehowextremely

luckywearethatwefoundeachother,and

we love each other, and we want to spend the

rest of our lives together. And then he said,

‘Will you marry me?’ He pulled out the

BabyAnything box and said, ‘I couldn’t

havedoneanyofthisforyouwithoutLucie

beingapartofthis.She’spartofthis.’Then

he opened it up and I was like, ‘Holy moly!’

Joel:It was so perfect.

Whendidyouknowitwastruelove?

Joel:Really early on, I knew Elle was

pretty special. After we got engaged,

ItoldherthatIconsideredgettinga

ring before our one-year anniversary.

Elle:Which I still can’t believe! When

wemet, it was just meant to be. It just

happened so naturally.

Are the wedding plans in full swing?

Elle:I’dliketoelope!Butinthesame

breath, there’s something quite amazing

to be able to stand in front of the people

you love and celebrate that love.

Wewouldliketokeepitintimate.

Joel:Oneofmybrothersjusteloped

andmyparentswantedtokillhim!

[Laughs] So I think we’ll need to make

some sort of compromise.

So what do the next six months

holdforthetwoofyou?

Elle:[Mybrand]TheElleEffectisgoing

to launch. I’ve got a big collab with an

Australian brand that will go global,

all over Europe, Asia, Australia and

America.We’llalsoheadtoCoachella.

That’s business – what about babies?

Elle:Definitely! We would love to have

little tanned, naked beach babies!
