Big falls in the value of the US and Australian
dollars was putting upward pressure on the
local prices of Japanese motorcycles.
The 1995 United States Grand Prix, scheduled
for 6 August at Elkhart Lake (aka Road America)
in Wisconsin, was cancelled after the circuit
failed FIM homologation standards. No
replacement race was found and the season
was reduced to a relatively short 13 rounds.
And early road-test pictures of the R1100LT
emerged. The ‘luxo tourer’ was the latest model
in BMW’s new generation of boxers.
