The ragged start of the 1982 Arai 500. After 81 laps, Kiwi Rodger
Freeth (#3) on the CRC McIntosh Suzuki won for the first time. With
Greg Pretty’s (#12) Honda CB1100R slow away from pole position,
Suzuki 1100 Katana-mounted Mick Cole (#14) and Rob Phillis
(#30) made the best of the Le Mans start, but both retired, as did
Andrew Johnson (#11) on another Honda.
