Paul Agnew played seven league
matches for the Swans at the end of
his professional career in 1997. The
Grimsby Town legend also made 39
league appearances and scored
once in two years with West Brom.
Fellow ex-Grimsby man David
Smith also brought an end to his
playing days at Vetch Field, having
scored once in four league matches
for the Swans during the 2002-03
season. He had previously made
102 league appearances in an eight-
year spell with West Brom, netting
twice.
Carl Heggs began his professional
career with West Brom having
joined from non-league Leicester
United in 1991. He scored three
times in 40 league matches for the
Baggies prior to a move to
Northampton Town in 1995. The
striker then went on to score seven
goals in 43 league appearances for
the Swans between 1997 and 1998.
James Thomas famously scored a
hat-trick for the Swans in a 4-2
victory over Hull City on the final
day of the 2002-03 season to keep
them in the Football League.
Overall, he netted 16 goals in 57
league appearances for the club
between 2002 and 2006. Earlier in
his career, the Swansea-born
frontman played in three matches
for West Brom on loan from
Blackburn Rovers in 1997.
Fellow striker Craig Beattie scored
seven goals in 41 appearances for
the Baggies between 2007 and2009 before joining the Swans,
where he netted a further seven
times in 46 matches.
Luke Moore was loaned to West
Brom from Aston Villa in 2008, with
the Birmingham-born striker
making his move permanent later
that year. In all, he scored five times
in 63 appearances for the Baggies
before joining the Swans in 2011.
The former England Under-21
international bagged 11 goals in 62
matches through until 2013 and
was part of the matchday squad for
both the Championship play-off and
League Cup final successes.
Scott Sinclairscored a hat-trick in
that play-off final – three of 36
strikes he managed in 91
appearances for the Swans between
2010 and 2013. The winger spent
part of the 2013-14 season on loan
with West Brom, for whom he
played 11 times.
A mention, too, for former Swans
skipper Ashley Williams, who was
part of West Brom’s academy but
released without making a first-
team appearance. He went on to
play over 350 matches for the
Swans between 2008 and 2016,
