LIFE SAVVY

I have an aunt who is extremely loud. Whether it’s talking,
laughing and worst of all complaining, everyone in the
surrounding area can hear her. It is extremely embarrassing
and she often ends up fi ghting  with other women in the
locality. How do I get her to tone down a bit?
Siddhi Das, Kolkata

That’s a strange problem. I would suggest talking to her
spouse or her children and asking them to try and control
her. If that doesn’t work, have a serious talk with her and
try and put some sense into her.

My sister recently had a baby and my four-year-old son
has been fascinated by his little cousin. It was endearing
and really cute until he asked if he could have a sister. My
husband seemed excited about the idea but I’m not sure. My
pregnancy was tough and I really don’t want to go through
that again. What should I do?
Ankita Patel, Mumbai

Ankita, every pregnancy is not the same. Technology and
medicine have changed tremendously. I would recommend
you go see a doctor and then decide if you want another

baby or not. I think it would be very healthy for your son
to have a sibling.
My ex-husband and I split three years ago but we have
maintained a cordial relationship for our two children. As per
the kids’ request, we do a lot of things together as a family and
it’s okay as I felt we were in a good space. But now, every time
I mention that I want to move on, he guilt trips me using our
children. He is always putting me down and making me feel
worthless. I’m hesitant about beginning a new relationship as
I’m sure he will make things diffi cult. Also, he’s very close to
the kids so I can’t cut him out of our lives. Any suggestions?
Payal Verma, Bengaluru
Payal, if your kids are at an age to understand, you should
speak to them and make them understand the situation.
Also, it is your life; be tough, give your ex an ultimatum
and tell him it is time you both moved on.
