Savvy India — December 2017

(Kiana) #1

CONGRATS, ROYALS!
A round of applause to the British
royals for relaxing their stuffy norms
and accepting Prince Harry’s choice
of bride in actress Meghan Markle.
Meghan is of mixed race, a divorcee
and older than the prince. But now
even they agree that it’s only love that
ultimately matters! Hearty congrats!
Priyanka Arora, New Delhi

INSPIRING IVANKA
Kudos to Ivanka Trump for playing
the perfect ambassadress as First
Daughter of the White House. While
as an heiress and mother of three, she
could have sunk back into a luxurious
family life, she has instead taken on
a serious role and has earned the
US tremendous goodwill globally.
Atta girl!
Merlyn D’Souza, Pondicherry
TOILETS, A MUST )
Toilets are a basic necessity and
it’s high time that they are provided
in the metro trains. The distance
between some of the stations
is very long and it’s diffi cult for
diabetic patients, senior citizens
etc to control nature’s call. On one
hand India is sending satellites
to Mars and on the other, citizens
are deprived of the basics. Hope
authorities open their eyes once
and for all!
Nidheesh Babu, New Delhi

A REAL HERO! )
Instead of the Government begging
of Afroz Shah, Mumbai’s famous
environment activist, to resume his
beach cleanup drive, they should focus
on an effective waste disposal system
to prevent plastics from being dumped
into the ocean. This is the need of the
hour. Kudos to Afroz for bringing this
up with the nonchalant authorties.
Sunil Mathija, Mumbai
HAIL ARABIA! )
Saudi Arabia is fi nally feeling the
winds of change under the newly
appointed crown prince Mohammed
bin Salman Al Saud. In the last
few months, women have been
allowed to drive and enter sports
stadiums as spectators. Flexible
work timings are being discussed
for women employees. May this
welcome trend grow and infl uence
other nations as well!
Hadiya Sheikh, Kolkata
