Savvy India — December 2017

(Kiana) #1
I don’t interfere in the scripting process. And once the
script is locked, I believe in giving the director his
space to mould the fi lm as he sees fi t. My priority is
the fi nancial aspect – marketing, distribution etc.
I also look in on the music, fi xing the release date
and so on. Business-wise I am very aware of my
job and know exactly what I’m doing. The fi nancial
strategies I learnt from my businessman father are
a big help too.
AKSHAY KUMAR... MY HERO
For me, ‘Rustom’ highlighted the challenges of
bringing a fi lm together. There are several intricate
processes involved that one has to get right. I
learnt that one has to take into consideration the
expectations of the audience along with the director’s
vision if the fi lm is to be a success. Thankfully, I was
working alongside superstar Akshay Kumar who taught
me a lot about the industry. Being a newcomer, I was
nervous but communicating with him was effortless.
He is my real life hero!
MY FAVE BOLLYWOOD GALS
I have been fortunate to have worked with some very
talented actresses. It was a lot of fun working with
Bhumi Pednekar for ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. She
was so dedicated that on set, we didn’t see Bhumi,
but her character Jaya instead.
I am also excited to be working with Anushka Sharma
on ‘Pari’. Our production houses will be working
together on the fi lm. Anushka likes to challenge
herself and doesn’t want to do something simple
and straightforward. She is an extremely talented,
extraordinary and ferocious person. It is indeed a
pleasure working with her.

I am also excited

to be working with

Anushka Sharma

on ‘Pari’. She is an

extremely talented,

extraordinary and

ferocious person.
