Christmas - the season of joy and cheer, and a delicious
holiday dinner, complete with your favourite selection of wine! But
pairing the right food with the right wine takes the experience to a
whole new level. Here’s an easy guide to getting the perfect pairs.
APPETIZERS
Keep your appetizers light and pair them with something
moderately dry and low on alcohol. Sparkling wines are very
food-friendly, they don’t overpower the food and are excellent
with salty snacks. Meatier options, on the other hand, require
something a little more full-bodied.
Pairing suggestions: A Chenin Blanc, Cremant or Champagne works
very well with a smoked salmon canapé or a potato preparation.
On the other hand, Rosé matches perfectly with the dish ‘pigs
in a blanket’.
A Sauvignon Blanc is a crowd pleaser and pairs well with a
variety of white meats, or veg alternatives like tomatoes, or even
feta or goat’s cheese.
