LOCATION MELBOURNE

An elegantly curved desk sits at the centre of

this home offi ce in Melbourne. Tucked inside

a fully renovated Victorian cottage, the room

blends the old with the new in a sophisticated

style that incorporates modern metallic

elements with a warm colour palette that

somehow still suggests a bygone era. The

fl oor-to-ceiling built-in shelving unit, replete

with library ladder, is a great feature of this

contemporary renovation. In keeping with the

fundamental vision of the project to combine

the mature and timeless period details of

the existing cottage with the more modern

extension, this home offi ce hits the right

note of blended modes.

LOCATION BRIGHTON, VICTORIA

Splashes of primary yellow form the built-

in edges of this home offi ce space. Sleek

and minimalist in design, the offi ce provides

everything needed to get the job done

without imposing a sense of self-importance

that takes over the main function of the

house as a family home. Tucked into a nook

in the communal living zone, this offi ce/

study area serves a practical purpose

without taking up valuable fl oor space,

and off ers great views into the outdoor

courtyard – which might make it a

tad distracting.
