14: DESIGN BRUNSWICK HOUSE
LOCATION BRUNSWICK, VICTORIA
By using prefabricated factory-built panels
on their renovation, the owners of this home
sliced months off construction time. The
fi nal result was a captivating design that
celebrates the old and the new rather than
trying to fuse them together. The fi nal look
has an urban, edgy feel with rustic touches.
This is evident in the selection of light fi ttings.
Either side of the beds there are simple
bulb pendants, and in the dining area a
trio of similar bulb pendants make a simple
statement that meets the design brief.

LOCATION NORTHCOTE, VICTORIA
In a house designed to off er the best of both
worlds — private and public spaces — the
central kitchen/dining room holds a special
place for the family as a spot where they can
come together as a whole. This space is fed
natural light via a lightwell over the kitchen
sink, while the work bench receives plenty of
task lighting from overhead downlights. The
showpiece, however, is the black geometric
shade that hovers over the large family dining
room, adding textural interest that perfectly
matches the house style.
