A MINING executive
withagoodproject
development pedigree,
Vivian Roberts,
has been appointed
director of mining
operationsatHastings
Technology Metals.
Roberts has
more than 30 years’
experience in large
mining operations and was directly involved
in establishing a 55 million tonne per annum
iron ore mine from virgin ground. He has
also been involved in the ramp up and
expansion of several other mining operations
including Prominent Hill, Century mine and
Nity Copper.

ORINOCO Gold has added Joseph Pinto to
its board as a non-executive director.
Pinto has been a major shareholder and
supporterofthecompanyandisalsonon-
executive chairman of Tyranna Resources, a
cornerstone investor in Orinoco.

FORMER Wolf Minerals managing director
Russell Clark has joined Kasbah Resources
as CEO to lead the inalisation of the
assessment, inancing and development of its
Achmmach tin project.
Prior to his Wolf time, Clark was
managing director of magnetite miner
Grange Resources and oversaw its merger
with Australian Bulk Minerals.

directors. Liu is a
metallurgical engineer
with more than 26
years’ experience. She
was president and CEO
of Rio Tinto Minerals
from 2011 to 2014 and is a non-executive
director of Newcrest Mining and Iluka
Resources. Wood has held various senior
global roles with BHP, including president
people and president public afairs and was
also the company’s group company secretary.
She is a non-executive director of investment
company Djerriwarrh Investments.


CIMIC Group has rung the changes with
deputy CEO Michael Wright being promoted
toCEOandmanagingdirectoraterhis
former boss Adolfo Valderas opted to take
a role with Spanish engineering giant ACS
Group. Valderas will remain on the CIMIC
boardasanalternatedirector.
With Wright moving up the ladder,
Ignacio Segura has been brought in as deputy
CEO and chief operaging oicer.
Segura is currently CEO of ACS
construction company Dragados.

service company Qteq
has appointed Perth-
based mining and
corporate governance
specialist Mark
Donovan to its board
as a non-executive
director. Donovan has
held senior legal and
managerial roles with
WMC Resources and BHP and was most
recently head of corporate af airs for BHP’s
Western Australian Iron Ore operations.


IAN Cochrane has taken the chairman’s
gavel at drilling services company Ausdrill,


replacing Terry O’Connor. O’Connor has
been an independent director and chairman
of Ausdrill since 1993. He was also chairman
of the remuneration committee and a
member of the audit and risk committee
during his tenure. Cochrane, who has been
O’Connor’s deputy, joined Ausdrill in 2015.

retiring from practice in 2013.

Equipment. He has
worked as senior vice-
president aggregates
and been a member of Metso’s Minerals
Capital business area management team
since 2016.
Sami Takaluoma
has been appointed
president, Minerals
Consumables. He has
been the vice-president
of Metso’s Nordics
market area since
2014 and was general
manager of the UK &
Ireland market area
from 2010 to 2014.

BEN Hammond has been appointed
managing director to go with his CEO role
at phosphate, potash and base metals player

AFTER retiring as chairman of Alliance Resources and Alkane
Resources, mining engineer John Dunlop has been elected a
director of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
He will start his three-year director’s term in January.
AusIMM directors are elected by vote of the members at large.
h is is Dunlop’s third term on the AusIMM board. He
previously served from 2001 to 2006 and received the institute’s
Beryl Jacka award in 2007.
