SANDVIK has launched the latest in its
Ranger DXi series with several features to
improve the drilling process, not least being
55sq.m drilling coverage.
Other improvements include a rockdrill
family with 21 kilowatts to 27kW.
h e ric can also use the Sandvik GT
tools, allowing higher productivity with
straighter 82mm to 217mm holes.
h e rigs also have the Sandvik iTorque
control system to tackle tough rocks.
h e DX900i has 290 degree reach to get its
55sq.m drilling coverage. h at saves working
time and minimises the need to reposition
the rig.

While the rig can rotate, its counterweight
structure ensures stability by keeping
weight opposite the boom. h e Ranger
DXi rigs also have a low centre of gravity
and high tramming power to help them
remain mobile. Operator ergonomics and
low cabin noise have been focuses of the
rigs development. h anks to cooperation
with the VTT Technical Research Centre
of Finland, Sandvik has been able to lower
the noise emission to levels not experienced
before with this type of rig. A new user
interface was also developed based on several
customer trials. h e cabin also has room for
a trainer behind the operator seat.
