CAKE COLLABORATION

Last year in celebration of
International Literacy Day
(September 8th), me (Corinna
from Lovin’ from the Oven)
and Heather McGrath (from
Cakepunk) celebrated the works
of William Joyce (www.facebook.
com/SweetBillJoyce) and created
a brilliant collaboration that got
a great reaction from everyone
including William himself. The
response was so positive that
even after fi nishing and swearing
we wouldn’t do another – there
began talks of our other favourite
books growing up. We decided
that we would create another
collaboration to honour all of
the stories that mattered to us
and our children. William Joyce
says it best in one of his books:
“Everyone’s story matters,” and

we completely agree!
Twenty-nine sugar artists from
around the world chose their
favourite stories and have created
amazing tributes to their own
favourite authors and illustrators.
The cakes created were so
fantastic that we had to design the
Facebook page, video and website
to do them justice. We think it has
and we hope everyone else feels
the same.
After contacting some of the
authors themselves they’ve
responded with enthusiasm and
donated signed copies of their
books to help raise awareness

for our charity. This year, we are
tying the collaboration to our
own fundraising page. ALS is a
progressive, neurodegenerative
disease that over fi ve-thousand
people are diagnosed with every
year with a life expectancy of only
2-5 years. Help us share this story
by donating what you can to
allow this invaluable research and
assistance to continue.
Everyone’s story matters.
