Australian 4WD Action – July 2019

(sharon) #1

The nightmare everyone dreads. Is your 4WD properly insured?

Insurance is one of those
begrudging things that we pay
every month (or year), that
seems like you’re just throwing
your money away – until you
need to use it. You’re playing
with fire not having even a basic
third party insurance, because if
you hit the anchor and run up
someone’s clacker, you’ll be left
with potentially crippling repair
bills. And while it’s okay to just
have your run-of-the-mill
bare-bones third party
insurance on a 4WD worth a
couple of grand, what about the
rest of us who have put
considerable time, money and
effort into our pride and joys?
If you’ve worked your guts out

to build your way up from an old
dunger to a mint 4WD with all
the gear, then the last thing you
want to do is have a prang and
end up driving a clapped-out
$1000 dunger around again.
We’ve all heard the horror
stories. 4WDers being knocked
back on claims, left out in the
cold with broken 4WDs and
massive repair bills for other
vehicles. This article will cover
all the major points you need to
know to ensure your 4WD is
properly covered and there are
no hassles should the worst
happen.
So the big thing everyone
wants to know, is how to get
their modified 4WD insured
