“YOU CAN REALLY

PUT YOUR VEHICLE

TO THE TEST”

difficult life would have been like
at that time.
Near the homestead is an
open field where at dusk you will
find loads of wombats and
wallabies. If you’re lucky you’ll
also see some big male
Kangaroos box and kick as they
fight for alpha rights. The bird life
in the area is spectacular, home
to over 106 species of bird
including the Peregrine Falcon,
the Powerful Owl, and the
stunning Kingfisher.
Bendethera is remarkably
beautiful and serene, and yet
there are those who have the
potential to ruin it for the rest of
us. More recent trips to
Bendethera have shown that
there have been visitors who are
disrespectful and disruptive to
the park, ripping up grassed
areas and hills with their 4WDs
and motorbikes and destroying

previously beautiful clearings.
As such national park has
responded by bollarding off
some areas that are now only
accessible by foot in order to
prevent further destruction and
allow for regeneration. If people
aren’t more respectful, they
could risk the park being shut
for good. If you happen to see
people do the wrong thing, take
note of their vehicle’s plate
number and report it to NSW
Parks and Wildlife or the local
police.
If you’re up for an adventure,
Bendethera Valley is the place to
go. From its heart-stopping
descent to numerous river
crossings and family-friendly fun
activities, it’s bound to get the
heart racing! Do yourself a favour
and get out here next time you
plan to go camping, you won’t
regret it!
