Australian 4WD Action – July 2019

(sharon) #1
First up, you need to mount the supplied antenna. We’re
mounting ours on the bullbar next to our existing UHF antenna.
If you don’t have a free spot to mount an antenna on your
bullbar, you can weld a bit of flat bar to the tube. Be mindful
of where the aerial will sit in relation to your driving vision as
you don’t want to obstruct your field of view. Once you have
mounted the antenna, just nip up the lower bolt for now.

Next, run the cable for the
antenna inside the cab,
taking care to keep it away
from any moving parts.
Depending on where you
mount your Cel-Fi-GO unit will
determine how much coaxial
cable you need. So for now,
run a whole bunch into the
footwell of the vehicle.

Now it’s time to install the unit itself. Ensure you pick a
mounting location with a bit of airflow, but primarily a spot
where the unit will not get damaged. We are mounting ours on
the side of the centre console. If you are mounting it this way,
test fit the unit first, then mark out where you want it to sit with
a marker. Next, remove your centre console so you can mount
the unit securely. The kit comes with four mounting screws,
so we just drilled four pilot holes then secured the unit to the
console. Before we re-mount the centre console though, we are
going to install both antennas and test the unit out.
