stories of the past, join a Walking
Tour at a later date, to explore
the depth of the area’s history.
If today is Friday, Saturday or
Sunday, take time to browse the
markets located in The Rocks
for a little something. For more
information, visit therocks.com.
Following Argyle St towards
the Bridge Stairs – there are
many signposts that lead you
in the right direction – you’ll
make your way up the stairs and
onto the bridge. Don’t worry, we
are not climbing up the bridge,
just walking across it.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge
opened on 19 March 1932, after
almost nine years of construction.
It is a renowned international
symbol of Australia, and is the
world’s largest and tallest (but
not longest!) steel arch bridge.

This walk will take you from one
side of the bridge to the other.
Although it is fenced, the wind
does pick up along the way, so if
you are wearing a scarf or a hat,
be sure to hold onto them
tightly! Remember to
also stop along the
bridge and look
back towards
Circular Quay,
to admire
the beauty
of the city.
You did it – well
done. You crossed
the bridge and should
hopefully have hit your
10,000 steps mark!
If you notice the sun is soon to
set, make your way off the bridge,
past Milsons Point Station (or
you can head home from here),

towards Luna Park along the
water. Here, you can take a step
back in time to relive the charm
of Sydney’s oldest amusement
park. Entry is free, so you can
celebrate the completion
of your walk in style.
Or, make your way
towards Bradfield
Park, to lie down
and watch the
sunset over
the west.
Alternatively, you
can catch a ferry
back to Circular Quay
and make your way
down to Opera Bar (next
to the Opera House), where you
can watch the sun set behind the
bridge. After all, you deserve
to end your day on a truly
memorable moment! ■
