It is nosurprisewhenI saysugaris notgood
forus.Sugarhasbeenlinkedboth
toanincreasedriskofdeveloping
variousdiseasesandtothephysical
signsofageing.Intheshortterm,
sugarhighsarefollowedbya
blood-sugarimbalance,whichcan
haveanimpactonhowyou
performandfeel.
Somanyofmyfriendsquizme
abouthowmuchsugartheycan
getawaywith,whetherit’sin
chocolate,wineorevenapple
juice.Maybeit’sa reflectiononmy
40-somethingfriends,alljuggling
livesI sometimesthinkrequiretwoactual
humans.We’rebasicallyquiteknackeredso,
despitebeingmoreawareofourhealththan
ever,wesometimesroundthedayoffwith
somethingcoldanddryorbymindlesslyeating
thekids’sweetsinfrontofthetelly,undoing
ourhealthydaytimehabits.I findit is a really
commonexperiencewithwomenintheir40s

they’reworkingsohardtobemindfuland
healthyandinvestinginthemselves.
Onschoolnights,I’minbedearly
because stayingontopofsleep,movingtoa
lower-sugarlifestyleanddrinkinglessarethe
threemainthingsthatI thinkkeepallmy
balls intheair– mostofthetime,anyway.
Realisingyou’renotdependentonsugar
is thefirststep.Allyouhavetodois
change your mindsetandemploysome
clever tacticsanddistractiontechniquesto
tweakunhealthyhabits.
Reducingyoursugarintakewillradically
improveyourlifeandleaveyoufeeling
focused,sharpandmotivated.Therewillbe
lotsofbiologicalchangesgoingon,butyouare

do,it hastobeworthit.
