BUSINESS NEWS
ZipMoney (ZML) and Urbanise (UBN) remain glued onto our
watch list and are thought of highly in the corridors of The
CEO Magazine; however, here are three companies that
should also be on your radar.
- Vocus Communications (VOC) — Vocus has been sold
down recently from above $8.50 to around $5.90 —
something we view as unnecessary and oversold. The
earlier Vocus and M2 Group merger may have caused some
internal problems, but the footprint and solidity remain
strong, something the fiscal year 2016 results reported in
August underscored. - New Hope Corporation (NHC) — Most people are aware
of the recovery in energy prices this calendar year; thermal
coal up some 40 per cent and natural gas up by
approximately 26 per cent. New Hope Corporation has a
strong balance sheet, fundamentals look strong, and it looks
to represent considerable value at current prices.
- Speedcast International (SDA) — Speedcast provides
internet access via satellite to customers across a wide
range of industries where cable, fibre or other technologies
are simply impossible or plain impractical. Think ships at
sea, tiny islands, oil rigs, defence or offshore mining teams.
The company is growing both organically and via acquisition
and looks to be leading the way in an interesting market.

Millennial concern and trust
When it comes to tackling the world’s challenges, trust is
placed in the hands of big business according to the World
Economic Forum’s ‘Global Shapers Annual Survey 2016’. The
research offers insights into the thinking and views of 18–35
year olds on technology, governance, values and the role of
business in society. It finds that for global issues, young people
trust international organisations the most, at 26 per cent,
followed by themselves (20 per cent).
The biggest global threat? For a second year in a row,
millennials nominated climate change as the world’s most
serious issue. This is followed by large-scale conflict, religious
conflict and poverty. The survey also finds that across all
regions, the most urgent problems are corruption and lack of
accountability in government. Other issues keeping youth up
at night include economic opportunity, education shortfalls
a n d p o v e r ty.
