THE DESTINATION

5 Trekkers stand
overlooking the
muddy snout of the
Pindari Glacier at Zero
Point where the trek
culminates. The glacier
flows for almost three
kilometres, and from
this point, one can also
get an up-close look
of the Nanda Devi
peak. Mountain climbers
are known to scale the
peak for a whiter view
of the glacier.

6 Terrace farming is
a common mode of
sustenance for the
inhabitants of Khati
village. According
to local legends, the
village has existed
from the time of the
Mahabharata; it is
said that it provided
shelter to the Pandavas
during their period
of exile. Now, the
walls of these homes
are decorated with
intricate woodwork
narrating tales from
Hindu mythology.
