How did you start in triathlon?
i had just finished my fifth consecutive cricket season in the early
part of 2013, and was in desperate need of a change. Figuring

i’d

give triathlon a crack, but having never done one,

i entered

ironman Melbourne at the end of that cricket season. As a
baptism of fire, i completed my first triathlon in April that year,
the luke harrop sprint tri on the Gold Coast.

hooked but
realising i needed stacks of help, i joine

d Atlas Multisports
(sunshine Coast) and started to train properly under Jason
Crowther in the lead up to my first ir

onman in March 2014.

What’s you sporting background?
i grew up a sport tragic and played anything and everything as a
kid – cricket, football, soccer, baseball, netball etc., etc. My main
pursuit turned to cricket at 14 and i pl

ayed until i burnt out
mentally and emotionally in my mid-20s.

A guilty pleasure?
Chocolate, usually Cadbury and almost always by the block.

What has been your most memorable
racing experience so far?
ironman new Zealand in 2016.

i had the most incredible overall

experience with my family and people who are now friends for
life, including my current coach, Bevan McKinnon, who

i

managed to pip for first overall age group honours.

it was a first

for many things and to this day one of the most fun race
experiences i’ve ever had.

Who’s an athlete you admire?
lionel ‘no limits’

sanders.^
