YO U SAY
Get your motor runnin’ (BBC1, 8pm)
I mistakenly expected great things from the
author of Normal People. But how wrong I was!
That was genuinely engaging, tender, poignant,
funny, sad, well-scripted and beautifully acted.
Conversations With Friends (BBC3) failed to
engage on any level. The characters were all
unsympathetic, self-absorbed, completely devoid
of any real emotion and annoyingly monosyllabic.
I couldn’t have cared less about any of them!
James Thomson
