SA: MELROSE FAT TYRE FESTIVAL

This event is one for mountain biking fans. Four

days of biking, food, music and entertainment, all

enjoyed in the fresh air and under the gaze of the

beautiful Mt Remarkable.

This year’s event will include the Karatta

Wines Fat Tyre Festival Village with a community

atmosphere, food stalls and live entertainment for

adults and the kids.

This annual event at Hobart’s MONA (Museum

of Old and New Art) takes its winter solstice

rituals pretty seriously, with major art exhibitions

exploring the links between ancient and

contemporary mythology, international musicians

and a public art playground.

Also includes the annual Nude Solstice Swim,

where hundreds plunge into the River Derwent at

sunrise to welcome back the return of the light

after the longest night.
