A dog’s dinner!

If you want to give your dog some Christmas
dinner leftovers as a little treat,
here’s what’s safe and
what’s not.

TURKEY
A little bit of turkey
breast, which is lower
in fat than thigh
meat, is fi ne for your
dog to eat. Make
sure you remove all
fat, skin, and bones
from the meat fi rst.

PIGS IN
BLANKETS
These will not
harm your dog, but
they are generally
considered to be
too fatty and salty
for dogs to eat
in quantity.

STUFFING
As it contains
a mixture of
breadcrumbs,
onions, spices,
and herbs,
stuffi ng is best
avoided as
it can cause
stomach upsets.

CRANBERRY SAUCE
Your dog isn’t likely to be desperate to
get his paws on the cranberry sauce,
but it’s fi ne for him to eat if there’s a bit
on the turkey meat.

GRAVY
Although it’s very tasty and most
dogs would love to lick gravy off
your plate, avoid feeding it to your
pet as it’s high in salt and fat.

VEGETABLES
Although you need
to avoid feeding bulb
vegetables to your
dog, carrots, peas,
and Brussels sprouts
are fi ne for your dog
to eat.

ROAST
POTATOES
Potatoes are
OK to feed your
dog, if given
in moderation.
However, it’s
best to avoid
mashed potato
if it contains
lots of milk and
butter, as neither
are good for
your dog.
