SGOING DEEP The Hubble Ultra Deep Field, a 1 million-
second exposure of a tiny region of sky in Fornax, contains
nearly 10,000 galaxies. The well-deined ellipticals and spirals
are relatively nearby; the smallest, reddest galaxies in the
image above are among the most distant known.
