Record breaker!
This beautiful cat, who lives in Michigan, USA, has just been
listed in the Guinness World Records as having the longest
tail on a living domestic cat.
Silver Maine Coon Cygnus’s tail was measured at
a whopping 44.66cm (17.58in) long. Imagine how much
time it takes for her owner to groom her!

The famous Morrisons
cat, Brutus, has been
remembered with his very
own statue.
Brutus shot to fame
when he was photographed
by shoppers visiting the
Morrisons store in Saltney,
Cheshire, back in 2011, and
he was adopted as the
store’s mascot.
His Facebook page,
which detailed Brutus’s
many antics, has over 12,
followers, and his fans
were devastated when he
passed away in January
after battling polycystic
kidney disease.
Owner Claire Owens

started a crowd-funding
campaign to purchase
a statue to honour the
much-loved puss, with
Morrisons itself donating
£1,000 to the cause. Over
£5,000 was raised in total.
Over 150 people turned
up to the supermarket
in September to see the
unveiling of Brutus’s bronze
statue, which was revealed
to the public by TV and
radio star Ted Robbins.
Claire says: “I was quite
overwhelmed at how many
people came; we were
expecting 50 or so! It was
so lovely that so many
people came.”

Dog appointed kitten-sitter!

Things were looking bleak for Ava, a tiny abandoned kitten
who was found in a London garden at just a few days old.
But then she met her new best friend, Barney, a Labrador
owned by Rachel Ab’dee, the head nurse at Battersea Dogs
& Cats Home who looked after Ava and hand-fed her every
two hours.
Three-year-old Barney takes his kitten-sitting duties very
seriously: snuggling with Ava, playing with her, and keeping an
eye on her. They even watch TV together!
Rachel says: “Barney adores Ava and can’t wait to come into
Battersea every morning so he can see her. It’s great for Ava
too, because she doesn’t have a mum, or brothers or sisters,
so Barney has become
her best friend and
favourite playmate.
It’s wonderful to see
them so happy together
and to know that their
most difficult days are
behind them.”
Now the future looks
bright for Ava, who has
had a lot of interest
from people who are
keen to provide her with
a perfect forever home.
