ALLIED EARTHMOVERS
In April we saw the 3rd Diesel Dirt and Turf
Expo held at Panthers site at Penrith NSW
and, as promised, the 2018 Expo was even
bigger and brighter than last year. Allied
Earthmovers Association was once again
involved with the Expo and we thank the
major sponsors of the Expo, Moody Kiddell
& Partners for sharing their stand with us.
We must also thank Marti and her team for
the organisation of the event. There was
good communication from this team, but
not only that, it was the genuine excitement
of organiser Steve Zivcovich that seemed to
rub off on the exhibitors. It’s not often you
see someone at a meeting almost skipping
with excitement while explaining the
possibilities of the Expo.
After spending four days at the Expo site,
one realises not only the huge investment
that companies commit to when signing up
to exhibit at events such as this, but also
the investment by some of the visitors that
attend.
TO EXHIBIT OR NOT TO EXHIBIT?
At our stand, we spoke to many owner
operators, some of whom had travelled
great distances to attend the Expo. One
owner operator in particular had flown from
Perth to attend. He was not really interested
in seeing Sydney and the harbour bridge, or
the opera house. He had just come to visit
the Expo. As a visitor, you need to decide
whether it is worth the cost (or rather the
sacrificing of income) of attending. The
cost of travelling, payment of staff wages
and loss of income while attending the
show must be taken into account when
considering attending and deciding if you
will “get anything out of it”. If you are
considering a major purchase, it might
be the ideal time to consider a range of
products while being able to focus on the
matter without distractions. If this is the
case, then a Trade exhibition is definitely
worth the trip. Our visitors from Perth
would certainly agree with this.
