Meriton has purchased the City of Sydney
council depot site in Zetland. The 1.1 hectare site
has the potential to accommodate around 300
apartments. This recent acquisition reinforces
Meriton’s confidence in the suburb, further
to their acquisition of the City Ford site in
Elizabeth Street last year.

The NSW Government has granted approval
for Macquarie Group’s unsolicited proposal for
the Sydney Metro Martin Place over-station
development. The $637 million proposal involves
construction of two commercial towers above
the existing Martin Place railway station and
the proposed Martin Place Metro Station.
The proposal also includes a public walkway
under Martin Place. Macquarie Group will
now seek approval of the detailed design of

both buildings through the State Significant
Development Application process.

Foster + Partners, Arcardis, Mott MacDonald
and Robert Bird Group form part of the Metron
Consortium, contracted for the underground
station design. The consortium are designing
seven of the new underground metro stations
including Martin Place.

Leda Holdings has bought a 1.9 hectare
industrial site, opposite Westfield Eastgardens
in Banksmeadow, near Botany in Sydney. The
private owner-occupiers who are currently on
the site will vacate by the end of the year. Leda
plans to build storage and warehousing units on
the site.
