When Günter Jacob,

began making leaf springs in the backyard

of his Moorabbin family home in 1958, he

would not have dreamt that 60 years later his

company would have become a global 4x4

accessories brand.

The Jacob Family continues to lead Ironman

4x4 with its family-oriented culture sitting firmly

at its core. “The values of honesty, customer

care and safety are key drivers everyday” said

Tom Jacob, Managing Director. “Ironman 4x4

stands for something way beyond just running

the business”, he says.

The suspension program has moved far

beyond just leaf springs to become the most

comprehensive off road suspension range in

the world, with more than 3000 part numbers.

IN AN interesting quirk of fate, the good folk at

Travelander have been able to buy back the

first ever tray back camper they built and sold

back in 2001.

It’s a story that endorses one of their

prime principles; one that's persisted since

starting out: that the longevity and strength

of fibreglass will ultimately be a proven, long-

lasting, product.

“It was a bit of a leap of thought,” says

Darren Holger, Travelander’s owner and

chief manufacturing engineer, “but because

we’re a trayback product, we had to really

focus on weight minimisation and strength

fundamentals”.

“Seeing this first product really reminds us

of all the hard work and thought that went into

choosing the right material for the job, and how

that material has stood the test of time”.
