Donna, Michelle, Noell, Sandra, Pip, Wendy, Sue and Janette –
we all look forward to helping you with all of your quilting needs.
Worth visiting because: We take pride in the welcoming feeling
that our customers can expect when visiting us. Our philosophy
is ‘sit long, sew much and laugh often’, which is what many of our
regulars enjoy and new visitors discover. We’re happy to help you
with fabric selection and any tips for various projects or even help
you choose your next quilt journey. In addition to our large range

of notions, quilt and bag patterns, books, batting, fabrics and
threads, including Aurifil, Gutermann, DMC and Rasant, we also
sell Janome sewing machines and accessories, organise servicing
of machines and have a large selection of Accuquilt cutters and
dies. We have a generous work area, which hosts weekly sewing
and machine-embroidery classes, as well as a number of
speciality workshops each month. Our monthly sewing groups
cover appliqué, English paper piecing, Accuquilt GoGo Club, Block
of the Month and Farmers Wife Sew Along. The store is open
Monday to Friday, 9.30am-4.30pm, and Saturday 10am-1pm.
Classes every day; join any time (10 week term $230). Bus groups
are welcome, and if you let us know in advance, we’ll make sure
you can enjoy a cuppa when you visit. Our mobile shop can also
come to visit your group or retreat, with the latest fabrics and
products on off er. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram
(@patchworkathomespun) to keep up to date with the store.

  • it’s just a
    15 minute run.
    Where in
    Mount
    Hawthorn: You
    take the Powis
    Street exit
    on Mitchell
    Freeway.
    Alternatively,
    it’s only a short
    walk from
    Glendalough
    train station.
    You can find
us in our older-style building – unassuming from the outside,
but a craft and gift treasure trove once you get inside.
Who plays host: Jennie Boylan, her ‘pound-hound’, Ricky,
and a band of happy helpers.

Worth visiting because: Where to start? If you’re into crafting,
we stock a wide range of patchwork fabrics, teddy-bear-making
supplies, haberdashery, knitting and crochet yarns and many
accessories. If making your own is not your scene (or you need
a gift quickly), we also stock a huge and eclectic range of soft
toys, fun books, giftware, handmade quilts and collectable bears.
We run classes and workshops in crochet, knitting, bear-making
and patchwork – and even have an on-site long-arm quilting
service. Every month there’s a session for volunteers to help
make quilts for foster kids and crochet rugs for those in need.
Craft groups/bus tours are welcome – we’ll even put on morning
tea, providing you give us some notice.
What we recommend: Chunky and unusual yarns are one
of our specialties, along with patchwork panels, book panels
and novelty fabrics. Hand-dyed mohair fur fabric is another.
If you need a gift for a newborn baby, we have child-safe toys
as well as collectable bears. Charlie Bears are just one of the
collectable ranges in stock.
