Australian Homespun — February 2018

(C. Jardin) #1
Where’s Esperance: Just west of the western corner of Israelite
Bay, Esperance is 700km south-east of Perth and 400km due
south of Kalgoorlie (the Golden Mile). It takes about seven
hours’ drive from Perth, one-and-a-half hours by air and three
days by cruise ship – so many choices!
Where in Esperance: Suite 1/120 Dempster Street. Driving in
from the north on Coolgardie/Norseman Highway, it will turn

into Dempster Street, so just follow your nose to McDonald’s,
and we’re diagonally opposite the golden arches. Go through
the door for Bernie’s Carpets, which is a family business we
share our premises with.
Who plays host: Debra and Sheila, with our other gorgeous
ladies, Sharon, Olwyn and Margaret.
Worth visiting because: We’re an interesting craft store, a bit like
Aladdin’s cave. We have fabrics for patchwork and apparel, along
with wool/yarn and tapestry and embroidery threads. If you’re
after a new sewing machine, we stock Janome and Elna
machines. We also have dyes for fabrics, cross-stitch kits,
embroidered table linen and much, much more. Our store is really
worth visiting for a look at just how much we do have to off er.
What we recommend: Our favourite thing is all the fabrics that
we have – it’s like Christmas when new fabrics arrive in store.
We always find it most exciting to play with new fabrics and
create something for your loved ones, so don’t forget to look
at what new fabrics we have in store, and you never know,
you could find the perfect fabrics for your next project.
