One of

intelligent
rabbit
breeds, the
Netherland
Dwarf can be
trained quite readily when part of a regular
routine. They are also inquisitive and playful
and have lots of energy, so enjoy plenty of
interaction with their owner.
“They do have a wilful personality and will
sometimes want to take their turn in making
decisions on whether it is cuddle time or not,
or where their food dish is going to be today.
This can be a good thing — it gives the bunny
lots of character and can be quite amusing,
which is one of the reasons why I enjoy them
so much,” Susie says.
Cherie, rabbit specialist from hobby
breeder group NethieLand Sydney, is another
Netherland Dwarf enthusiast ready to sing
the breed’s praises. “They’re enchanting little
rabbits that are very gentle — the most gentle

The Netherland is one of the lowest-
maintenance rabbits to care for. The breed’s
very short coat doesn’t need regular grooming
and, because it is such an active rabbit, it tends
