Australasian Dirt Bike — January 2018

Loading: Loading a trailer is easy. It’s
low to the ground and most trailers
will come with a ramp or rear door
that will fold down into a ramp.
Tiedown points are plentiful and you
can throw whatever you need in the
trailer without strapping it in.
The only problem area is loading
adventure bikes with tall
windscreens.
We had issues where the roof
wouldn’t close because the ’screen
was too tall. In these cases you might
have to remove the ’screen.
Oh, and remember to attach the
trailer to your vehicle before you
load!

Gangsta factor: If you’re driving
mum’s shopping trolleywithatrailer
you’re not going to look cool. A
vinyl-wrapped, enclosed trailer
maybe,butthat’saboutit.

Piloting: If you can put up with the
body roll of a four-wheel-drive then it
is among the best to drive. Most
four-wheel-drives are loaded with
tech such as reverse cameras, GPS
and Bluetooth, making the ride most
comfortable. They also have the
plushest suspension,yousituphigh
in traffic, and will destroy anything
and anyone you hit.

Fifth wheels: It goes without saying,
this is the best thing for carting your
mates to the track. The size of the
trailer will be the limiting factor
here,notthenumberofseatsinthe
car.

Motel on wheels: You can sleep in
the trailer, which gets you out of the
elements, but if it’s freezing you can
even fold down seats in the car and
sleep in there if you want, like
Motocross Editor Lee Hogan has done
in the Audi.

Cash money: It’s an expensive setup.
