Australasian Dirt Bike — January 2018

(sharon) #1

IT’S BEEN A big year, and for
one manufacturer in
particular. KTM took out both
the MX1 and MX2 World
Motocross Championships,
Daniel Milner clean swept the
AORC, Kailub Russell made it
fi ve Grand National Cross
Country titles, Ryan Dungey
took out the AMA Supercross
Championship, Josep Garcia
was crowned E2 Enduro World
Champion and Egan Mastin
picked up the MX2 Motul MX
Nationals crown.
Plus Levi Sherwood took
out the Best Trick and Moto X
Freestyle at X Games on a
KTM. A few other
manufacturers got in on the
action, with Yamaha taking
out the MX1 MX Nats crown
courtesy of Dean Ferris, while
Eli Tomac took the AMA Pro
Motocross title for Kawasaki
and Stephen Holcombe gave
Beta its fi rst Enduro GP
championship.
It was exciting to see our
Women’s team, Jess Gardiner,
Jemma Wilson and Tayla
Jones, take out their fi fth
ISDE crown, while the boys
managed to fi ll the second

evolving media landscape.
To celebrate such a big year,
we decided to run a big book!
This 260-page summer special
has everything including our
traditional 450cc motocross
shootout, a toy hauler
comparo, a bunch of Red Bull
KTMs on test, the Myrtleford
Alpine Rally and DSMRA
Tumut trailride, Wildwood,
Speedway GP and loads more.
The feature that may raise a
few eyebrows is the interview
with Kate Norman. Kate and
her team approached us about
doing a story with the
successful veterinarian and
racer because she does exactly
that: work full time as a vet and
race for a factory team.
There may be some people
who question the photoshoot,
but Kate is proud of who she is
and what she has achieved.
She’s fi tter than most of us
and smarter too.
We run images of blokes in
all kinds of gear and in all
kinds of shape, so why not
women? There’s nothing
crude about it, just a
successful woman who’s
proud of what she is!

step on the podium. Hunter
Lawrence shocked the
motocross world by winning
the MX2 class at the MXoN,
and Harry Bink shocked
freestyle fans when he
Front-Flipped his way to gold
at the Nitro World Games. Oh
and New South Welshmen
Jason Doyle was crowned
Speedway GP champ.
It was business as usual for
ADB, with our print product
thriving after a total redesign
12-months ago and we have
plans to make it even bigger
and better. All, of course,
thanks to you!
Our digital and social
platforms continue to support
our print product as we surge
forward with the rapidly
