Australasian Dirt Bike — January 2018

(sharon) #1

Normally I get the, ‘you’re

avet,isitbroken?’

CONFIDENTIAL I KATE NORMAN

Have you ever watched Bondi Vet and thought
Enduro Vet would make far better television?
I’m sure it’d be very entertaining. Bikes
and animals don’t really mix that well
but I have been called to a job with the
bike on the back of my ute and the
farmer asked whose bike it was. He
nearly fell over when I told him it was
mine and I was on my way to a race.

Your work must have taken you to some
interesting places?

With so many women involved in the sport
across the world has there been anyone that
really influences your efforts?
Ireallylookupto[formerU.S.pro
racer] Ashley Fiolek. She’s been an

inspiration to many women and men.
She has always stood up for women
in motorsport and has also
encouraged many younger riders.

Have you got many life friends that ride or have
tried to ride since you’ve taken it up?

Ambassador
Kate
Kate Norman is an ambassador for
Australian Motorcycle Finance (AMF).
“Being an ambassador for Australian
Motorcycle Finance is awesome. I get to
attend events like the Australian
Motorcycle Expo where I meet so many
different people. Being able to endorse a
brand that enables riders to get on a new
bike sooner is always a good thing.”

Have you thought much about 2018 and if you
will continue to race off-road?
I was ready to hang the boots up at the
end of 2016 but am so glad I didn’t. I’ve
really enjoyed racing this year but
know I can still improve. I don’t think
I’m done yet. We’ll just have to see
what happens. Finke is on my bucket
list and there’s a few rides I really
want to do so I’m unsure exactly what
at the moment.

Got something to say about this yarn?
