8 REPLACE O-RINGS
There are O-rings at both ends of the
silencer that seal it. Make sure you
replace both and grease them up before
reassembling the silencer.9 MATTING
I like to use muffl er matting as it is much
tidier than muffl er wool. Lay the pipe
down and cut out a section of the matting
large enough to wrap around the
perforated core snuggly.10 KEEP IT SNUG
Holding the matting in place, gently
insert the wool and inner core back into
the outer aluminium tube of the silencer
by twisting back and forth. The matting
should be a snug fi t but not so snug that
it prevents you from inserting it in the
muffl er tube. If you are having trouble
you can use electrical tape to hold it.11 REFIT CAP
Now it is time to refi t the end cap and
bolts, but only do the two 8mm bolts up
fi nger tight for now.12 BOLT IT BACK
Bolt the muffl er back onto the bike. Then
you can twist the muffl er from side to
side to get it into a position where it won’t
hit the wheel. Only then should you
tighten the two 8mm silencer bolts.

CLEVER STUFF
1 Replace both muffl er O-rings and

3 Clean out all the old packing and
two-stroke oil before repacking.DUMB STUFFS
1 Don’t stand behind the bike when
you fi re it up after repacking the
muffl er as you could get hit with
some lose bits of packing wood.
2 Don’t tighten the two 8mm bolts
before fi tting the silencer back to
the bike.
3 Don’t leave any of the fi breglass
packing material around the shed or
on your skin as it can get itchy.There are

then it is best to
perform this job
wearing elbow-length
rubber gloves.
