GAS GAS EC300

Gas Gas launched the EC300 in Australia last

month and ADB Ed, Mitch Lees, couldn't make

the launch so I got the nod!

The latest Gasser is worlds away from the

previous models. Torrot Electric bought out

the small manufacturer in 2016, and the bikes

copped a major overhaul. The 2018 model

features a new frame, engine, suspension and

geometry while trick components have been

used to lift the overall fi nish. The frame is a

central backbone chrome-moly number, in

contrast to the steel perimeter job used on

the old models. A KYB AOS (Air/Oil Separation)

48mm fork replaces the Marzocchi of past

models and it’s matched with a KYB shock. The

motor is all-new and pumps out more power

than last year’s.

It's a singletrack weapon, but Gasser also

found an extra 10hp for 2018, so it loves

sixth-gear fi reroads too. And the switch to KYB

suspension was a stroke of genius!

There’s nothing ground-breaking but there

doesn’t need to be and this is refl ected in the

price. At $12,290 for the EC300 that makes it

one of the cheapest 300s on the market.
