(^) Newly crowned world champion
Jason Doyle made his way to
Olympic Park Speedway in Mildura
for the Phil Crump International
Trophy. Despite still having a broken
foot and nursing a stomach bug,
Doyle fulfi lled his commitment to
the event and won his four
qualifying heats but sat out the
six-lap Phil Crump Final, taking the
time to sign autographs and take
photos with the fans. Rohan
Tungate took the win, with Nick
Morris and Cooper Riordan
TASMANIA rounding out the podium.
(^) A full 2018 race calendar has
been announced for Tasmania with
enduro, motocross and grasstrack
events throughout the year. There
will be something for everyone,
with come and try days, practice
days, club championships and state championships on offer. The
biggest event on the state’s calendar will be the Australian Junior
Motocross Championships at Blackwood Park in Penguin from
28Septemberto6October,2018.

QUEENSLAND
(^) Queensland motocross and
supercross legend Peter Melton died in
November after an on-track accident in
his home state. Melton’s pro career
spanned 20 years and resulted in
multiple titles in both motocross
and supercross.
(^) The KTM South East Queensland
Junior Motocross Championships have
wrapped up for another year with the
fi nal places being decided at Tivoli
Raceway. Liam Wilson took wins in the
Senior Unlimited Pro class and Senior
MX2Proclass.JaiWalkeralsowondualtitlesintheJuniorLites4
A-GradeclassandtheJuniorLites2A-Gradeclass.
(^) Motorcycling Queensland and its trials sub-committee are
working to promote participation in trials by accepting
recreational licences for use at interclub, club and practice trials.
The rec licence costs just $130 a year but is for non-competitive
events only.
NEW SOUTH WALES
Motorcyclinghasbeenincluded
intheActiveKidsProgramme,
meaningthattheNSWstate
government will provide $100
towards competition licences for
everyjuniorriderinNSWuptothe
ageof18whoisenrolledinschool
or TAFE.
(^) The 2018 King of MX series, also
doubling as the NSW State
Motocross Championships, will take
place over six qualifying weekends
and a fi nal. The qualifying rounds
kick off on 3 March at Clarence,
with the last being held at Moree on
12 May. The fi nal will be over
Queen’s Birthday Weekend at
Goanna Tracks, Coonabarabran.
