LINE UP AT FULLBACK
IF YOU WATCH MXGP, you’ll know that Fiat’s fi ngerprints are all over the series
with the Fullback ute. The Fullback is front and centre at most rounds and it was
the pick-up of choice for the parade before the MXoN at Matterley Basin. But did
you know that ADB has a Fullback of its own? Well, sort of. The Fiat Fullback is
basically a Thailand-build Mitsubishi L200, known here as a Triton, with some
minor tweaks to the bodywork. Mitsubishi and Fiat are part of the Fiat Chrysler
Automobiles group, so the badge engineering is no surprise. Our Triton is tricked
up with KMC alloy wheels and a DP Chip to pep up the diesel but the MXGP
Fullbacks look a bit tricker. The big question is, why’d they call it a Fullback?
Something to do with the popularity of rugby in Europe or the size of the tray,
perhaps? Shouldn’t the offi cial truck of MXGP be called the Holeshot?RALLY IN COLOUR
LAST MONTH WE showed you the black KTM 450 Rally prototype being used
by the KTM team in the Moroccan Rally. Well now the orange brigade has
taken the covers off the fully-stickered up version that is tipped to give KTM
it’s 18th straight Dakar win in January. Sam Sunderland was at the EICMA
show in Milan to spruik the bike, which looks strikingly different from the old
version. Toby Price also showed it off on Instagram, complete with his
number for Dakar 2018, #8. What do you think of the new wheels? And will we
see Pricey on top of the podium in 2018 after a year out of the game?HONDA GOES DUTCH
DUTCH RIDER BRIAN Bogers will make his MXGP debut after signing with
Team HRC Honda for season 2018. Bogers will replace Russian Evgeny
Bobryshev and join Tim Gajser. South African Calvin Vlaanderen will
represent HRC in the MX2 class. Bogers and Vlaanderen both rode for KTM
under the HSF Motorsport banner in 2017, but after a sponsorship deal
between Honda and Dutch logistics company HSF, the two riders will switch
