Fear

IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU’RE DAKAR
CHAMPION TOBY PRICE OR THE
HUMBLE ADB OFFICE JUNIOR, THE
FEAR OF FAILURE IS REAL

RONNIE MAC HAD been
talking smack to Ricky
Carmichael for weeks leading
up to the AUS-X Open in
Sydney but when it came to
crunch time, the hillbilly had
nothing for the G.O.A.T. The
two faced-off in a two-stroke
showdown with Ronnie riding
a 1998 Honda CR250 and RC
on his 2005 Suzuki RM250.
The G.O.A.T is still quick and
it only became a close race
when RC ‘made a mistake’ and
let Ronnie thru on the last lap.

From there he toyed with him
until the corner before the
whoops where RC got inside
and pushed Mac wide.
Mac whisky throttled and
ghostied his Honda off the
berm and it smashed into a
camera boom. RC rounded the
last turn and crossed the fi nish
line for fi rst while Mac was still
picking himself up off the dirt.
Mac then confronted RC and
pushed him off his bike before
RC’s 120kg security guard
levelled the smart-arse.

MAC GETS

SMACKED

THEMOSTANTICIPATED
match-up since Muhammad
Ali fought Joe Frazier was
set to go down at Red Bull
Straight Rhythm, with Chad
Reed, Ronnie Mac and Ryan
Villopoto throwing low
blows at each other via
social media in the months
leading up.
The two former
supercross champions and
the people’s favourite were
entered in the Ken Roczen
Two-Stroke Cup but, after
months of build up and
quality banter from all
parties, it would amount to
nothing, with Reed falling
victim to an ankle injury
after overshooting a jump
during warm up.
With Chad out, Villopoto
and Mac were the two
big-ticket riders left in the

two-stroke class but, as the
night played out, they
would never match-up.
Villopoto would lose to
Gared Steinke, who went on
to face Mac in the fi nal and
completely destroy him.
Makes sense, given Steinke
was the only rider in the
class who actually races a
two-stroke professionally.

ANTI-CLIMAX

SERCO YAMAHA’S MITCH
Evans and Aaron Tanti were
involved in a horrible
accident during the second
SX2 heat on the Saturday
night of AUS-X Open. The
two crossed paths in the
rhythm section, with Evans
landing on the back of Tanti.
Neither rider moved
following the crash and
waited to be attended to by
the Racesafe medical crew.
The next day they posted
updates via social media.

Evans had fractures in his
L2, L3, and L4 vertebrae
and two fractures in his
pelvis. Tanti fractured his
scapular, L4 vertebra and
his hip. Wishing them a
speedy recovery.

IF YOU AREwondering
whether the human race is
getting dumber, these lads
have provided strong
evidence for the “Yes” vote.
These mechanical
engineers decided it would
be a good idea to rip a
massive burnout in a VK
Commodore while it was on
a trailer being towed down
the highway.

In their defense, we must
point out that it’s one of the
more foolproof ways to burn
rubber as the car is tied
down and you’d expect it
wouldn’t go anywhere near
a tree like so many burnout
attempts on YouTube. We
wonder who it was?
