Elliott moved her fashion brand, Little
Joe Woman, to Bali and now sells her
flowy dresses from a boutique near
the Potato Head Beach Club. Penny
Pinkster holidayed in Bali for 30
years, before eventually moving to the
island and launching her label, Mist.
She now has three outlets, selling
kaftans and dresses. It’s a similar style to
Natasha Welsh’s eponymous label, now
also run from Bali, which mixes boho
elements with lace and fringing.
New to the Seminyak scene is Eden
Life Centres, launched by Australians
Deborah Van Der Hoek and Duncan
Angus. It’s all about holistic healing, and
is focused on good nutrition, happiness,
self-care and integrated learning.
Founded by Gareth Moody, George
Gorrow and Dan Single, Aussie fashion
label Ksubi is the latest design-driven
ofering on the island. While they have
launched a retail space — the only
stockist of the brand’s new men’s label,
Non-Type — their main focus is The
Slow, a hotel designed with a ‘tropical
brutalist aesthetic’, according to the
owners. There’s lots of polished concrete,
native wood and perforated partitions,
with hanging plants and floor-to-ceiling
windows that allow for uninterrupted
views of the beach and Bali’s volcanoes
