o the white shirt is basic and
boring? Not in Katherine
Tilton’s hands! This multi-
talented artist, educator, designer,
writer and visionary has a special
way of beautifully elevating
those reliable staples of any
woman’s wardrobe, so that they
fully express your individual
personality. Because of this scope
for individual interpretation in her
designs, her patterns appeal to a
wide range of women of different
ages and body shapes.
Working out of rural Oregon in
the USA with her equally talented
sister, Marcy Tilton, (whom as you
all would know, has her own highly
successful pattern collection at
Vogue Patterns, and even has
her own studio nearby,) they also
regularly host extremely popular
‘ParisTilton’ design-oriented tours
around Paris, which clearly inspire
her unique and creative approach
to designer detailing. Her new
shirt pattern for Spring 2017
is a perfect example;- Its soft,
‘crushable’ funnel collar and yoke
that stands away from the neck
beautifully frames the face, while
the curved seaming and pleating at
the back is a clever and very user-
friendly way to gently incorporate
that all-important (and very
directional) ease and volume of
every fashionable silhouette now
and into the foreseeable future.
