K

atie’s advice to women
wanting to get into the best shape
of their life. It's going to be tough,
you are going to think that you
aren't getting anywhere, but one thing that
Hattie kept saying throughout the beginning
of this challenge is “trust the process”. I
could not have asked for a better piece of
advice.
How do you feel now you have
completed the Oxygen challenge?
I feel like a different person. I am still
grateful for those times I found so difficult,
as without them it wouldn't have made
me the person I am. It is not just about
the physical changes for me, but also the
changes to my attitude and outlook that are
the real bonuses. I have learned that the
greater the challenge, the bigger the reward.
What made you join the challenge?
I was suffering from a lot of back and
shoulder pain that was mainly related to my

profession. I thought I had to totally give up
my clinical career and battled depression,
feeling like I had no control of my situation.
When I realised that training wasn't just
about looking good, but minimising my back
pain, improving my health and really helping
with my happiness, I knew I had to do it!

manda’s advice to women
wanting to get into the best shape
of their life. Keep going and use
others for inspiration rather than
as a negative, unachievable image.
How do you feel now you have
completed the Oxygen challenge?

I have gained more confidence, more
energy and feel a lot happier than I used
to be. I have greater self-worth. I used to
feel like I didn’t matter, but being around
positive people helped me look at the world
differently. Not to take life for granted, go
out and live it instead of going through the
motions.
What made you join the challenge?
The lightbulb moment for me was when I
caught my reflection in a shop window and
I stopped to look at myself because I looked
untidy. I had a good hard look at myself
and realised that I hadn't brushed my hair
that morning; I just put it into a ponytail
and went on with my day. I couldn't think
when the last time I actually looked in a
mirror, it had been a long time because I
hated what I saw. I knew I had to do
something about it.
