replanted. It forms a part of Sandeman’s vintage lote and has been released as a single-quinta
wine although, confusingly, a wine named ‘Vau Vintage’ does not originate entirely from
the estate.

Overlooking Ribeira do Caedo on the south bank of the Douro, Vila Velha is owned
privately by James Symington and supplies Grahams. Of 137 hectares, just under half is
planted with vines.
