GIANFRANCO FERRÉ
1989-1996
The first non-Frenchman at the
helm of Dior, Ferré held court at
the house for the first half of the ’90s.
A former architecture student from a
noble Milanese family, Ferré had a feel for
opulence. Case in point? This peach lace
and pleated tulle gown from his final
Christian Dior collection, autumn 1996
couture. Where to photograph such a
grand idea? Versailles, of course. © PATRICK DEMARCHELIER; DIOR HERITAGE COLLECTION, PARIS PHOTO
