FASHION
If you’ve been dreaming of a
designer gown, you can expect
to hand over between $8000
and $15,000. Or for a specially
handmade gown, you could be
looking at $2000 to $8000.
If you’re wearing a heirloom
dress, or have found a cheap
vintage gown, then you’ll
have a lot of extra money
to spend elsewhere! Buying
a dress off the rack is cost-
effective, but might mean
paying a tailor. Save in other
areas by hitting the sales for
jewellery, lingerie and shoes.
As for the groom’s suit,
it will cost more to have it
made than to buy it off the rack
or hire it, but generally it can
be kept under $2000. When
it comes to the bridal party’s
clothes, the couple often pay,
but if your bridesmaids and
groomsmen are covering the
cost, then give a thank-you gift.

STATIONERY AND
DECORATIONS
Prices vary, but can cost as
much as $40 to $60 per guest
to create an invite, name place
card, ceremony booklet and
thank-you card. The decoration
bill can be zero if you’ve
covered the flowers separately,
and the venue is ready to go.
However, it can also blow out
if you have a lot of big ideas.

PHOTOGRAPHY
AND VIDEOGRAPHY
Post-wedding, your photos and
video, if you choose one, will
be some of the best mementos
of the day. The price is affected
by the photographer, whether
they employ a second shooter
and if you’d like to have a
videographer, too. If you can’t
afford to allocate much of your
budget to this, think about
booking your photographer
to stay only until just after
the cake is cut and bouquet
is thrown. A photo booth is
also great for any late-night
shenanigans. Don’t forget,
while you can supplement
photography with snaps from
friends and family, Polaroid pics
and instagram shots, there’s
nothing quite like seeing
your professional photos!
