Four steps to building a face.

To reconstruct a face^4 from the LB1 skull,

Susan went through a series of steps. First she used a

computer model to analyse the skull and repair any damage

(^1) ; she then built up underlying anatomy, including the muscles
(^2). Following this, the facial features were approximated^3. The result
(^4) appears hauntingly human-like. Some details, such as
ears and hair, can’t be determined from the skull and are speculative.
