‘He did just that, the very night we met. I was so shocked I didn’t tell him [about what I’d said] for months.’MARRY ME Pene says she had dismissed the
idea that she and Anthony could possibly work,
because of the freakish coincidence of their first
encounter, but their first child Benjamin was one
year old, and Pene was pregnant with their
second child when the couple were away with
friends at a winery for the weekend, to celebrate
Pene’s 30th birthday, and Anthony proposed. ‘I
cried and cried,’ says the bride. ‘It was such a
beautiful, unexpected moment.’SILKEN SHEEN Although she hadn’t thought
much about getting married, Pene knew
immediately the style of dress she wanted: ‘I love
the elegance and femininity of 1940s slip style
dresses. My inspiration came from Rita Hayworth
and Ava Gardner.’ The bodice of her Helen English
ivory satin, low-backed gown was covered with
Solstice lace in antique gold. And she wore an
