B
lack and white has been popular,
but I’m seeing a bit more blue —
navy in particular— making a
comeback,’ says Suzi Waters, who started
her stationery design company eight years
ago when her first daughter, Alannah Rose,
was born. Navy, of course still creates a
strong graphic contrast with white, and
looks great with yellow or orange highlights.
And although summer weddings bring
out the brilliant pinks and strong yellows in
stationery orders, Suzi is also
recommending that couples consider an
elegant soft grey. ‘It’s lovely, it doesn’t give
too much away about your theme, and it
leaves it a bit more open as to what other
colours you want to add down the track.’
So it’s ideal if you want to send out
invitations before every styling detail has
been decided — if you’re having a
destination wedding, for example, and you
need to give people plenty of notice.
Alannah Rose does all its business
online, priding itself on offering an incredible
variety of designs and colours; and on a
fast, extremely high-quality service. From
order to delivery, Alannah Rose stationery
takes from two to four weeks.
And Suzi goes out of her way to ensure
that receiving Alannah Rose stationery is a
really special moment. She says, ‘Quite
often it’s the first thing a couple gets for
their wedding — the first thing that says,
“This is really happening!” So we send it out
in a beautiful gift box tied with ribbon. We
want people to be wowed... and excited.’

elements for any wedding are invitations
and thankyou cards. ‘Not enough people
send thankyou [notes],’ she says. ‘They
don’t have to be on the same card stock
as your invitations, which can be
expensive, but just printed on lovely
notepaper.’ If you include them in your
invitation order, you’ll have them ready to
write soon after your big day.
